A Comprehensive Look at School safety
Vacaville Unified has identified six areas of focus in order to continually build a comprehensive safety plan for student and staff safety. VUSD works closely with the Vacaville Police Department both in plan development as well as incident response.
Security
Security includes ongoing enhancements to fencing, gates, access points, supervision, video cameras, and weapon screening etc.
Preparedness
Preparedness involves monthly drills of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) actions of Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter.
Reunification, incident command and communication drills are also part of VUSD's preparedness. CPR, Stop The Bleed, LifeVac and AED training are other critical elements.
Awareness & Reporting
Situational awareness, reporting information about possible threats, and reporting cries for help are critical in maintaining safe schools.
